class vibe: R&B, low stress, mellow energy, fun and imperfect
niche: My goal is to have my students feel a little bit better leaving my class than when they first walked in. I know what it is like feeling stressed and anxious about things that are happening throughout the day. I like to try and provide a class that will allow students to mellow out for an hour.
What does it mean to be an Ignite teacher?
Being an Ignite teacher means that you have created a space where any person that walks into your class feels like an accepted member of the community. As an ignite teacher you’re teaching a class that enables students to engage various parts of their bodies by encouraging students to find their edge, in a safe and healthy environment.
Why do you love to teach yoga? or what do you love about teaching yoga?
I love being able to help others feel better emotionally. I can see it on their faces when they are coming out of Savasana (final resting pose). I also enjoy seeing new students improve as they progress in their practice.
What’s your greatest adventure?
I have not experienced my greatest adventure yet. But my favorite journey was a cruise my sister and I took to the Caribbean when she was pregnant with my niece.
Where else are you lighting it up these days?
During the COVID pandemic I have been exploring new hobbies and passions. I am going to start nursing school in the fall. I have been learning how to paint and draw which has been a fun mindfulness activity.
Where do you feel most at home?
I feel the most at home if I am with my family. We are spread out throughout the country so I feel comfort whenever I get a chance to visit or talk to them.
What’s one thing you know to be true?
Remember to be kind to yourself. We usually are our own harshest critics, so it is important to forgive yourself when you make mistakes. Always look at setbacks as lessons for your next task or goal.
